Some Brief Extraordinary Case Histories

Saved a town

During the Great Flood of 1993, Faith and her team were awarded the Humanitarian Service Award for saving an entire Missouri town from destruction. (Duct tape is a great thing to protect your skin when moving thousands of coarse burlap sandbags!)

Leprosy?

Did you know leprosy still exists in the world? Faith’s team redesigned a leper community and was again awarded the Humanitarian Service Medal and international acclaim from the Panama Ministry of the Presidency.

Should have been on a TV show

Built an entire 3-bedroom University rental in 34 days (!), from ground-breaking to tenant occupancy. This included bank and City inspections. Faith was the architectural designer and builder and designed the property with speed of construction in mind so as not to miss the start of the school year.

We Have Faith in Sam Hughes

The Sam Hughes community embraced Faith’s historic, gorgeous flips and set up a special tour of her projects they dubbed the “We Have Faith in Sam Hughes” tour.

Lost in translation

Selected as a member of the engineering team on a U.S. Delegation to China working with Chinese engineers, constructors, and educators, the Chinese wanted to know how the U.S. did freeways. The real question became lost in translation for several days before it was realized Chinese highways were privately owned and were all toll roads. The Chinese literally wanted to know how we drive on our highways for “free,” hence, freeways.

What is the longest
continuously operating hotel in Arizona?

The Copper Queen Hotel in Bisbee, built in 1902. While this is a great historical nugget, the problem arose when the owners needed to rebuild the entire kitchen, so they hired Faith as the engineer, designer, and Project Manager overseeing the contractor to ensure an on-budget and on-time build and City compliance.

Why do we have building codes on how we bury water and sewer lines?

Survivor

Built a school on the austere Saboga Island, Panama, 40 miles off-shore. This island was so austere at the time, it was later selected for one of the sites for a season on the CBS TV show Survivor. At the time of construction, there were no roads, no phones, no fresh water, no electricity, no toilets, and no transportation to the island. It was deemed the impossible task… Brought in a generator, water tower, heavy equipment, etc. and built a school with toilets and showers, lights and fans, and even did a massive charitable collection to uniform and equip all the children.

Before the military member returned

Did a surprise major addition/renovation in 6 weeks on a military member’s house before they returned home. Faith was the architectural designer and builder. This project time included the design, permitting, construction, and décor.
